JET CLUB TERMS & CONDITIONS

 

1.       GENERAL

1.1.    You must be a Jet account holder in order to sign up for Jet Club membership.

1.2.    To qualify for benefits a 3 month waiting period applies. This means you must be a Jet Club member for at least 3 months (i.e. pay at least 3 consecutive Club monthly premiums) before being eligible to any magazines, discounts or benefit claims.

1.3.    Should you cancel and reinstate your membership, the 3 month waiting period will be reinstated.

1.4.    Account payments and Jet Club premiums must be up to date in order to claim benefits.

1.5.    All Jet Club benefits should be accessed through the Jet Club Helpline for Jet Club to be liable for benefit payment (SA & Namibia 0800 00 45 45, Botswana, Lesotho & Swaziland +2711 991 8258).

1.6.    Jet Club reserves the right to add or withdraw benefits at any time without prior notification.

1.7.    Terms & conditions are subject to change without prior notification.

 

2.       FUNERAL

To claim funeral benefits:

2.1.      Jet Club premium payments must be up to date at time of death.

2.2.      You must have been a Jet Club member for at least three consecutive months.

2.3.      The claim must be submitted within 12 months of date of death.

2.4.      All required legal documentation must be submitted with the claim.

2.5.      Underwritten by Hollard Life Assurance Company Limited (Reg. No 1993/001405/06), an Authorised Financial Services provider. Edcon is a juristic representative of Hollard.

2.6.      The account holder, who is also the main Jet Club member, is the only person who can be a claimant in the event of the partner’s death.

2.7.      The partner will be the claimant in the event of the Jet Club member’s death.

2.7.1.a partner could be a legal spouse, common-law spouse, child over 18, parents, brother or sister (see www.jetonline.co.za for full details of the funeral benefit summary document)

2.8.      The funeral benefit will be paid in the currency of the country in which the Jet Club member lives.

2.9.    For a claim to be valid:

2.9.1.You need to have been a Jet Club member for three consecutive months.

2.9.2.You must have paid three consecutive Jet Club instalments on your Edcon account card.

2.9.3.Your Edcon account card monthly instalments must be paid up to date and in good standing at       the time of death.

2.9.4.The death must have occurred within 12 months of date of claim.

2.9.5.for a claim to be paid out, all valid documentation must be submitted with the claim to a    Jet/JetMart Store

2.10.Documents needed

2.10.1.    Certified copies of the death certificate

2.10.2.    the claimant’s ID book

2.10.3.    marriage certificate plus certified copy

2.10.4.    a relationship-status affidavit in the event of non-spouse claims

2.10.5.    letter of authority from the court

2.10.6.    police report if death is by unnatural causes

2.10.7.    Notification of death BI 1663.

2.11.    SA and foreign claims will be paid out in the Jet/JetMart store where the claim was initiated.

2.12.    You have to join Jet Club before your 65th birthday. (This benefit covers your lifestime. No exit ages applies).

2.13.    To give members the best premiums possible, insurance companies need to properly assess risk and reduce insurance fraud. As a result, they need to share information. If you do not give Jet Club consent to share your claims information with Hollard, you need to cancel your Jet Club membership by contacting Jet on 0860 005 006 or emailing [email protected]

 

3.       JET CLUB COMPETITIONS

3.1.    All competitions in Jet Club magazine are open to Jet Club members only, who are 18 years of age or older (with the exception of competitions for children).

3.2.    Competitions are not open to employees of Edcon Limited (‘Edcon’) and their immediate families, and Edcon’s advertising and promotions agencies and associated companies.

3.3.    Competitions are open for a limited time only as published in each issue of Jet Club magazine.

3.4.    By entering any competition in Jet Club magazine, entrants agree to abide by the rules and conditions of the competition.

3.5.    Account and Club premiums must be paid up to date in order to stand a chance of winning Jet Club giveaways or competitions.

3.6.    Winners are selected by random draw unless otherwise stated.

3.7.    Winners will be notified by telephone and will receive their prize/s by post.

3.8.    Standard SMS rates apply unless otherwise stated.

3.9.    Prizes cannot be transferred or exchanged for their cash value.

3.10.Prizes exclude any other expenses incurred by winning participants when participating in the competitions.

3.11.The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

3.12.                Any information disclosed by entrants will only be used to contact the entrant, should they be selected as a winner.

3.13.                Edcon reserves the right to make media announcements and/or publish names and photographs of competition winners. Errors and omissions excepted.

3.14.                Winners must notify Edcon if not wanting to participate in any marketing activity or have their image or name used in any way.

3.15.                Sponsoring parties are not responsible or liable for any or all losses, rights, claims and actions in connection with, or resulting from, participation in competitions or acceptance of prizes.

3.16.                Winners may not win a Jet Club magazine competition more than once in a 90-day period. Any winners drawn who have won in the last 90 days will be disqualified from the competition and another winner will be drawn.

3.17.                Entrants may send as many entries as they like.

3.18.                Jet Club Win a Car Competition Terms and Conditions

3.18.1.             All competition entrants agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

3.18.2.             This competition is open to all Jet Club members, who are 18 years or older, except the employees, directors, members, partners, agents or consultants of Edcon Limited (“Edcon”), its subsidiaries and their respective advertising and promotional agencies, media and PR agencies, as well as the immediate family members, consultants, directors and associates of such organizations and persons.

3.18.3.    To stand a chance of winning and to qualify for the draw, you must be a Jet Club member and   have kept your monthly Jet account instalments and Jet Club premiums up to date for a               minimum of 6 months between December 2016 and June 2017

3.18.3.1.                  1st prize: vehicle with a retail value of R100 000

3.18.3.2.                  2nd prize: R25 000 cash

3.18.3.3.                  3rd prize: R10 000 cash

3.18.3.4.                 30 x cash prizes to the value of R1 000 each will be drawn at random throughout the competition period.

3.18.4.    The promotion / competition will commence on 1 June 2016 will run until 12 am on the 30            June 2017. You must be a Jet Club member as at 1 June 2017 to qualify for the draw.

3.18.5.             The grand prize winners will be drawn on 15 July 2017.  The winners will be notified telephonically.

3.18.6.             The winner of the grand prize will be required to be in possession of a valid driver’s license.

3.18.7.             The winner of the grand prize will be required to present his/her identification document and driver’s license when claiming the prize.  Should a person who is either under 18 years of age or not in possession of a valid driver’s license be drawn, they will be disqualified from winning and a new draw will take place.

3.18.8.             For all the other prizes the winners will be required to present their identification documents and should be above 18 years of age. 

3.18.9.             Edcon and/or the Promoter will make all reasonable attempts to contact the winner or winners but if any winner cannot be contacted within 7 days from the date of the relevant draw, then Edcon and/or the promoter reserves the right to draw a new winner. It is the entrants’ responsibility to provide the correct contact details.      

3.18.10.          The prize cannot be exchanged for its cash value or transferred.  The prize excludes any other expenses incurred by the entrant when participating in this promotion / competition. 

3.18.11.          Neither Edcon nor the Promoter shall be held liable for providing fuel and/or other running costs for the vehicle after the winner has claimed the prize. The winner becomes fully responsible for the maintenance of the prize from date of collection.

3.18.12.          Further, the winner of the car indemnifies the Promoter and/or Edcon against any claim brought against Edcon and/or Promoter or any of their affiliates in the event of any personal injury or loss suffered as a result of the use of the car.

3.18.13.          The winner is responsible for registering, licensing, testing, paying taxes, costs and other charges levied by the relevant authorities and taking out insurance on the car.

3.18.14.          The Edcon judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

3.18.15.          Edcon may choose to publish the names and photos of the winners of the promotion / competition.

 

4.       EMERGENCY HOME ASSIST

4.1.        Providing assistance for emergency household repairs that need to be carried out within 2 hours of the call and that could result in consequential damage. Service providers are dispatched in the event of electrical and plumbing problems, locksmiths, glaziers or if an essential appliance needs to be repaired.

4.2.        The service provides for three incidents per calendar year or per year from policy inception.

4.3.        This cost includes call-out and first hour labour but excludes costs related to parts.

4.4.        Assistance will be provided in the event of non-emergency repairs; the member will then be liable for costs and must settle directly with the service provider at the time of repair.

4.5.        Incidents not attended to on the instruction of an EASA case manager will not be considered after any repair.

4.6.        Emergency repairs outside of the domestic dwelling are not included i.e. office premises, public buildings or outbuildings not attached to the main building etc.

4.7.        A repair incident is considered per service category, e.g. if an electrician is called out to repair a fault on the distribution board, as well as an electrical connection, this is treated as one call out.

4.8.        If an appliance is still under warranty, it will be referred to the manufacturer for repair.

4.9.        The benefit period is one calendar year, and the benefit does not accumulate, but is a maximum amount per incident.

4.10.     Service guarantees vary and will be stated on the service provider’s invoice.

4.11.     Jet Club representatives will attend to and dispatch a service provider in the event your window is broken or cracked. We cover the call-out fee and first hour labour only for standard sized windows. Any additional costs will be for the client’s account including parts

4.12.Electrical Repairs include:

4.12.1.    Distribution boards, circuits, main cables

4.12.2.    Earth leakage relays

4.12.3.    Geyser connections, thermostats and elements

4.12.4.    Plug points causing power failures

4.12.5.    General house wiring

4.12.6.    Light fittings or switches causing power failures

4.12.7.    Lightning strikes on wiring

4.12.8.    Burnt connections

4.12.9.    Connections to all electrical motors e.g. electric gate motor

4.12.10.     Municipal connections inside of the property

4.13.Electrical Repairs exclude:

4.13.1.    Electric gates and doors

4.13.2.    Jacuzzi, swimming pool or borehole pumps

4.13.3.    Air conditioners and commercial refrigeration

4.13.4.    Repairs not complying with regulated specifications such as SABS and others

4.13.5.    Geyser solar panels

4.14.Plumbing Repairs include:

4.14.1.    Visible burst water connections and pipes

 

4.14.2.    Municipal connections inside the property

 

4.14.3.    Blocked drains, toilets, baths and sinks

 

4.14.4.    Geyser overflow valves (lacto and pressure release)

4.15.Plumbing Repairs exclude:

4.15.1.    Jacuzzis, swimming pools or boreholes

4.15.2.    Leak detection inspection

 

4.15.3.    Repairs not complying with regulated specifications such as SABS or others

4.16.Locksmith Repairs include:

 

4.16.1.    Keys broken off or lost for the main entrance or exit to a house.

 

4.17.Locksmith Repairs exclude:

4.17.1.    Burglary incidents

4.17.2.    Outbuildings

4.17.3.    Padlocks

4.17.4.    Safes

4.18.Appliance Repairs include:

4.18.1.    Fridges

 

4.18.2.    Freezers

 

4.18.3.    Washing machines

 

4.18.4.    Stoves (only if complete function is lost – if one or more plates are working it is not deemed to be an emergency repair)

 

4.19.Appliance Repairs exclude:

4.19.1.    Damages to cosmetic parts (parts not influencing the operation of the appliance)

4.19.2.    Repairs to items damage due to theft, rust, fire or ordinary wear and tear

4.19.3.    All appliances not listed above

 

5.       PERSONAL HEALTH ADVISOR (PHA)

5.1.    Access to the service is available to validated members only

5.2.    Based on symptom assessment, a Jet Club representative may refer a member to a medical professional.  Any costs incurred for services rendered by a medical professional are to be paid by the member.

5.3.    Symptom assessments are made based on the information provided by the member at the time of the call and can only be as accurate as the information provided by the member.

 

6.       TRAUMA, ASSAULT AND HIV SUPPORT

6.1.    Claims procedures and requirements apply

6.2.    Antiretroviral medication is not effective after expiry of 72 hours after exposure.  These incidents must be reported within 24 to 48 hours.

6.3.    To receive HIV treatment and counselling, Jet Club payments must be up to date at date of claim.

6.4.    Only two incident claims may be made per family per annum.

7.       LEGAL ASSIST

7.1.    Access to the service is available to validated members only

7.2.    Benefits are limited to

7.2.1.       one free 30-minute consultation

7.2.2.       one free letter of demand

7.2.3.       one telephone call

 

8.       JET CLUB VOUCHERS

8.1.        Vouchers are valid for a limited period only.

8.2.        Vouchers are valid at Jet and JetMart stores only.

8.3.        Vouchers must be produced in-store to qualify.

8.4.        Vouchers can only be redeemed using a valid Jet Account Card.

8.5.        Vouchers may not be used together with any other promotion or special offer.

8.6.        Vouchers are valid against regular-priced merchandise only.

8.7.        No change will be given against any discount vouchers.

8.8.       The discount voucher cannot be used for account payments.

8.9.        Vouchers cannot be used to purchase airtime, data, gift cards or cigarettes.

8.10.     Only one voucher may be redeemed per transaction.

8.11.     Vouchers may only be redeemed once.

8.12.     No photocopies permitted.

8.13.     Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash equivalent.

8.14.     Minimum spend threshold applies per voucher.

8.15.     Vouchers cannot be transferred to another party.

8.16.     The relevant local currency applies.

8.17.     Vouchers may not be used on returned items.

8.18.     Only 1 Jet Club voucher will be issued per month

 

9.       DAMELIN BURSARY TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

9.1.    Competition is open to valid Jet Club members only

9.2.    The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

9.3.    Competition closes 19 December 2016

9.4.    The bursary is valued at a maximum of R10 000 for one course only.

9.5.    The bursary is applicable for full time, part time or correspondence study, and excludes additional study material, textbooks, external examination fees, stationery, travel and accommodation.

9.6.    Registration for your chosen course will depend on the student numbers as well as the winner meeting the entry requirements for the chosen course.

9.7.    Acceptance to study at Damelin or Damelin Correspondence will be subject to you accepting the normal rules and regulations that apply to that relevant brand.

9.8.    The bursary is for a new course at Damelin (Pty) Ltd or Damelin Correspondence College only and may not be used against any existing registration.

9.9.    The bursary cannot be used in conjunction with any other Damelin or Damelin Correspondence College promotion and/or special offer.

9.10.    The bursary is not transferable and not redeemable for cash.

9.11.    Should a winner select a course with tuition fees in excess of the R10 000.00 (Ten Thousand Rands) price, the winner will be liable for the difference.

9.12.    If the winner selects a course that costs less than the R10 000.00 (Ten Thousand Rands), no refunds will be provided for the balance.

9.13.    Commencement of classes is dependent on student numbers. Should there be insufficient students registered, Damelin or Damelin Correspondence College reserves the right to postpone or cancel the class and Damelin reserves the right to combine the class with another Damelin campus.

9.14.    A Minor will require the consent of parent/guardian and/or surety/sponsor.

9.15.    Commencement of and use of the bursary must be within the validity period of the bursary letter, which is one (1) year from date of issue.

9.16.    Should you fail to redeem the bursary by 28 February 2018, the bursary will become null and void.

9.17.    We require a recent photograph of you along with a testimonial to appear on any publicity material.

9.18.    In addition to these terms and conditions, all the normal Damelin terms and conditions applicable to all student registrations as contained on the website and on the registration form apply.

10.   COUPON BENEFIT

10.1.       Coupons are redeemable at selected Checkers, Shoprite and Checkers Hyper stores in SA only.

10.2.       Coupons valid limited time only.

10.4.       Only South African residents may take up Voucher offers.

10.5.       We may ask you to provide adequate proof in respect of this requirement.

10.6.       Only one Voucher per person and household will be available under any Voucher offer.

10.7.       Each Voucher may be redeemed only once.

10.8.       Vouchers are not transferable. They may only be redeemed by the person to whom they were issued unless we give our written consent for the Voucher to be transferred to another person.

10.9.       Only one Voucher will be redeemed per product purchased from us.

10.10.   A Voucher may not be used in conjunction with any other special offer, promotion, voucher or coupon.

10.11.   Vouchers cannot be redeemed against prior purchases.

10.12.   Your participation in a Voucher offer may be subject to additional criteria (eg a minimum age) with which you will need to comply.
